1. The influence of resistance on spot welding heating
1) Contact resistance between electrode and workpiece: heat generation 5~10%Function:

2. Effect of welding current on spot welding heating
Welding current: The general setting value is the percentage of the total power of the welding machine. The setting range is: 0-99%. When set to 0, the minimum output is about 30% of the total power; when set to 99, the maximum power output.
1) Centralized heating
During spot welding, the current line along the electrode will produce concentrated contraction at the joint surface of the two workpieces. As a result, a concentrated heating effect will be produced at the joint surface, which is the part that needs to be connected during spot welding.
2) Plastic ring
The current density peaks at the edge of the bonding surface, where the heating intensity is maximum, so a sealed plastic connection zone will appear first. This sealing ring is beneficial to ensure the normal growth of the nugget and prevent oxidation and spatter.
3) Thermal balance of spot welding
Thermal balance = heat production + heat dissipation
Heat production: The heat generated by melting the base metal to form a nugget accounts for 10~30% of the total heat production. Its size depends on the thermophysical properties of the metal and the size of the nugget (amount of melted metal), and has nothing to do with the specification characteristics.
Heat dissipation: The heat lost by heat dissipation accounts for 70~90% of the total heat production. Heat dissipation methods: water cooling, heat conduction, air cooling, radiation. The most important thing is electrode water-cooling heat dissipation, accounting for 30~50%, followed by workpiece heat conduction 20%, and air-cooling radiation accounting for 5%, which are related to the electrode shape, material physical properties, and welding specifications.
